Audit Office,
Auditor General's Memorandum submitted for the information of the Honorable The Lieutenant Governor administering the Government.
It appears by the invoices of Stationery for the Financial Year 1849-50 that the Government is charged for 251 reams of Foolscap as weighing 20lbs each, but the reams received do not correspond with the invoice, the paper actually weighing only 18lbs each; it is therefore respectfully recommended that a Survey should be held upon it, and a certificate forwarded to the Agent General in order that the difference in price may be ascertained, and brought to account.
The cases in which this Stationery was packed were charged to the Government at £5.1.3; it is therefore suggested that they be sold by Public Auction, and the amounts realized, and also brought to the credit of the Government.
Hongkong, 27 June 1850.
